Car Scratch Repair
Many dents also come with scratches normally when the cause of the damage is from another car or a static object such as a post or bollard. To help our customers with this we have launched our scratch repair service.
There are many ways for us to remove these scratches depending on the damaged area, sometimes with light scratches we can use our machine polishers and our special polish formulas to polish out the scratches, at other times we need to mix the correct paint and touch in or spray the damaged area.
The Right Paint Colour
We are often asked if the paint colour will match, we understand why we are asked this question as many companies look at your paintcode phone a call paint factors and order in some paint, the paint factors will mix the standard shade and send out, now with some paint codes having up to 13 varients we can see why some cars get painted the wrong colour.
We have invested a lot of time making sure that the paint we use matches you car, we use Dupont Cromax paints which are expensive paints but mean we great quality and offer a great colour match, we mix all paints in house to your extact paint colour not just your paintcode but the correct varient of that paint code. We do this using a computerized device called Dupont Cromavision, this computer device reads three seperate samples of your paint and then searches through the computerised system to get the correct varient for your car. We then mix your paint with scales connected to the computer for the best match. So you can be assured when using us we do everything we can to get the right colour for your car.
Environmentally Friendly DuPont Cromax Waterbased Refinishing
Either way we are able to repair the damage caused to your car, as an environmentally friendly company we use the DuPont Cromax water-based paint system. DuPont are one of the worlds most respected automotive paint suppliers, using this system not only allows us to be safe to the environment but we can also match and mix any colour for and vehicle manufacturers paints, providing you with the best repair possible without the need of respraying the panel or car.
Stone chips are the probably the most common cause of paint damage, especially for cars that do lots of motorway miles. Most people tend to overlook this kind of damage and just accept it as one of those things. But having stone chips repaired with the correctly matched paint can make a huge difference to how your car looks appearance of your car, especially on dark coloured paintwork where the light colour of the chip really stands out.
The other common causes of scratches are key scratches normally caused by vandals. We are aproached by many people who havehad their car keyed. These cars could have single or multiple scratches of different depths. These scratches are normally left on your cars bonnet, rear wing, front or rear door panels, boot and sometimes even the roof again we have skills needed to repair this type of damage.
We are also able to repair stone chips and every-day light scratches. Stone chips should not be ignored, a stone chip in a cars bodywork allows moisture into the metal increasing the chance of rust developing and causing even more damage.
It is important that chips and scratches are repaired as soon as possible, the longer they are open to the elements the greater the chance your car will start to rust creating even more damage and increasing the cost of repair.

Wing Mirror Chips and Scratches
One of the most common areas of a car to get damaged are your wing mirrors not only do they get normal road chips they are also the widest part of your car and are commonly hit and scraped. We can colour code, polish and repair damaged wing mirrors. There are a number of methods to repair wing mirror damage depending on the area damaged and the amount you wish to invest. For light scratches we can polish out any scratches, for chips and scratches we can either touchup the damage or alternatively we can repaint the mirror using your exact factory colour
Car Scratches
Some car scratches can be polished out using advanced formulas, deeper scratches may require painting, using our smart repair techniques we are able to just paint the damaged area and blend into your factory paintwork this keeps the original finish and the price lower as less work is involved. It is important to repair a scratched area of your car as soon as possible the longer you leave the damage the more likely rust will damage the metal giving a more costly repair.
Car Chips
Some Car Chips can be polished others will need to be touched up. This will depend on the amount and spread of the chips over the panels. Making your chips go away is a highly skilled process and it started with the correct colour match, you have probably seen touchup pens available in you local car accessory shop, what you are not aware of that they only sell one shade of that colour for example Ford Diamond white came in 13 different shade yet they only sell one, that is why if you have ever tried this method of repair the result doesn't look right. At The Dent Shop we use the DuPont Cromax system to mix the exact shade of your car, our advanced computer system lists all the different variants and we can mix the exact one to match your car.
Bird Dropping Removal
Bird Dropping removal is something many people believe they can remove themselves, however a bird can create one of the most damaging “natural disasters” to a car’s paint. Bird’s Droppings is highly acidic, and the longer you leave it on your paint, the more damage it will cause. If you try to wipe a bird’s droppings off, even with a wet towel, you can scratch the paint. You may not be aware but the bird uses gravel to digest their food, and this grit is one of the major components of what you will be wiping into your paint which can leave scratch marks. We have specially formulated solutions to remove bird droppings causing as little damage as possible to your paintwork, however a machine polish may still be needed afterwards on your panel.
Tar Removal
Tar on your car can cause damage to your car and makes the paintwork look horrible, we have a special formula that can melt away tar on any of your cars paintwork. However leaving tar on your paintwork for long periods can cause damage which is only visable once the tar is removed, in this situation a machine polish can restore the paintwork back to its former glory.
Machine Polish or Panel Mop
After years of hard work your cars finish may have started to look dull and flat, we use special polishes and techniques to return your flat and dull paintwork back to a glossy shine. These techniques can also used to repair swirl and hologram marks which may have appeared after using car washes. We offer this service for both individual car panels and the entire car.
Below is an example of a machine polish, the customers car had what only can be described as a scouring mark on the bonnet, the car was professional cleaned and polished but the mark remained we were called in to see what we could do, the results speak for themselves.
