The Dent Shop can repair small cracks/chips starbreaks or bullseyes in your windscreen. If your windscreen has been damaged it will almost certainly get worse if left unrepaired, as dirt and moisture are able to get in, so our advice is to get it fixed ASAP. Lets face it nobody likes to have to wait around at home for somebody to turn up so The Dent Shop has decided to launch a while you wait service, all you need to do is turn up and we will repair your windscreen which normally takes 20-30 minuets, while you can take a seat in our waiting area.

Most insurance companies will pay the cost of a repair to a windscreen without affecting your no claims bonus or having to pay your insurance excess. However it is worth bearing in mind that a windscreen repair is classed as a claim and will effect your premium next year. if you are not insured windscreens are not expensive the average windscreen repair costs only £45.00, and if you haven't got windscreen chip cover you more than likely wont have replacement cover, and if you leave your damage and it has to be replaced that will be expensive!

Please remember that if you do have a repair completed on your insurance your insurance company may increase your premium next year as it is still a claim on your policy even if you keep your no claims discount - but the choice is yours either you can pay us or we can claim from your insurance company.

If you get stone damage in your screen, contact us as soon as possible, unless your screen is fixed straight away, it will probably get worse very quickly, especially in cold weather.

The Dent Shop do not replace windscreens therefore it is in our interest to repair your windscreen rather than replace this means we wont try to upsell a replacement windscreen, were possible we will repair your windscreen, chip or crack(yes they are repairable, even if others say they aren't) to the highest possible standard.

We use state of the art equipment developed in the USA or equipment is is miles ahead of the game and so are our techniques allowing us to repair when others say replace. Can a windscreen really be repaired?

Windscreen repair is a cheap but effective alternative to replacing damaged windscreens. Simply a windscreen repair is accomplished by injecting a specially formulated resin into the damaged area. The resin is then cured and polished to restore structural strength and clarity to the glass.

Will my car pass it's MOT with a chipped windscreen?

Many people say, “it’s just a chip; it doesn’t matter it will pass ”. They are wrong - even a small chip can make your vehicle fail its MOT..

There are clear rules about what must be repaired in different parts of your windscreen, particularly the part that is swept by your windscreen wipers.

The suppliers most recommended by your insurance company will refuse to repair your MOT failure! This is because you must have this damage fixed there is no getting around it, so they want the most money possible for the repair and that is to replace the screen not repair it - they have their interests at heart not yours/

The Dent Shop can’t guarantee that one of our repairs will pass the MOT if it is oxidised (milky) or contaminated by dirt. However all standard repairs will pass because we are able to make them “barely detectable” as required by the MOT testers manual. If your car does not pass it's MOT because of one of our repairs come back with the MOT failure sheet and our invoice and we will refund our repair amount.

What damage could fail the MOT?

Damage larger than 10mm will fail in the drivers line of vision. Marked Zone “A” above
Damage larger than 40mm will fail in the rest of the swept area Marked Zone “B” above.

Remember

If a chip is in the drivers line of vision, it only has to be bigger than 10mm for your windscreen to fail its MOT.
The MOT testers manual says “any damage not contained within a circle of 10mm” so a cluster of minor damage could also fail

Windscreen Cracks

There is also a good chance that we can repair windscreens with a crack which can be covered by a credit card. Windscreen cracks collect and retain dirt and debris, which could leave the repaired area more visible after repair, so for the best possible repair results, call us to perform our expert windscreen repair as soon as possible.
